Family Business Consulting
A family business can be an asset and an opportunity for relational growth within a family. At the same time, it can also exhaust and challenge familial relationships. A family’s identity can often feel solely rooted in the business, which may create specific attachment-dynamics for those involved. This may contribute to areas of concern that need to be addressed if the family, as well as the business is to succeed.
Many families and family members can feel stuck within their business. This has the potential to create significant turning points for families and for the family business. Unfortunately, as family businesses grow, it is common for familial relationships to suffer. Family members may become distant, get into negative patterns of interacting, or have difficulty discussing key dimensions of the business due to historical factors within the family that need to be addressed. This often results in these cycles or patterns interfering with creativity, communication, and the ability to grow as a family and as a business. If you are experiencing difficulties within your family business, or between the family members of your business, it may be helpful to have a professional assist you in navigating difficult, yet necessary conversations, and help to open communication in order to understand the underlying dynamics that can get in the way of a successful family business. Strengthening familial bonds by understanding the implications of attachment, and the theory behind this perspective, as well as opening the lines of communication within the family can help to create a stronger, more successful family business. These necessary conversations can be difficult and challenging, but they can also lead to great freedom and growth personally and professionally. If you are interested in exploring the underlying dynamics that may be interfering with your family business and learning a new way of communicating in hopes of creating stronger bonds between family members, please contact us for more information.
